Cyanotypes – Eclipses & Transits

Planetary Transits

Transits of Venus occur rarely, in pairs 8 years apart, at intervals of 121.5 and 105.5 years. The next Venus transit visible on our planet will be in 2117. Venus is clearly visible against the bright solar background.

Transits of Mercury are seen more frequently than transits of Venus: about thirteen occur each century. The planet Mercury is much smaller than Venus and further from Earth, and is barely visible as a tiny black dot in this picture.
