During the 1980s, I held the position of Research Technician within Professor Jeffrey Harborne's Phytochemical Unit at the Plant Sciences Laboratory, University of Reading, England. Professor Harborne FRS significantly shaped the field of phytochemistry in the latter half of the twentieth century. His contributions spanned original research on anthocyanins, chemical ecology, and comprehensive documentation of natural product research. He served as Professor of Botany at the University of Reading from 1976 to 1993, thereafter as Professor Emeritus. His legacy comprises over 40 books and 270 research papers, pioneering the study of ecological biochemistry, particularly the intricate chemical interactions among plants, microbes, and insects.

In addition to my responsibilities of laboratory management, aiding student projects, and executing research tasks, I also played a role in visual communication. Notably, I contributed to the development of diagrams and chemical structures featured in Professor Harborne's widely acclaimed book, Phytochemical Methods.

Our collaboration during this period resulted in the following research papers.
